Award-winning professional theatre in the heart of St. Charles

Steel Beam Theatre is looking to cast 15-20 actors age 8-18 for their November 2019 Youth Production: Annie Jr., based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin, Annie Jr. features everyone's favorite little redhead in her very first adventure. Annie Jr. is to be directed by Lexi Colatorti.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Auditions start at 6 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019, at the Steel Beam Theatre, located at 111 West Main Street St Charles, IL 60174 No appointment is necessary. Actors will be seen in the order that they arrive. A free parking garage is available on the Southside of the building. You may enter the theatre on the Southside through the Plaza.

Actors age 8-18 auditioning will read sides from the script and should prepare a short song they know well to be sung acapella. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily. Please bring an acting resume if you have one and also a photo (a candid one is acceptable). Information sheets will be provided to fill out at the theatre for those who do not have a resume available. Please direct any questions to Lori Holm via email.

Rehearsals begin the week of September 16th and are held on Monday and Thursday evenings. You must be available for all rehearsals through the performances. Showtimes are:

  • Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 9 at 12 and 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 10 at 2 p.m.

Once casting is complete, youths that have been cast will pay a production-based tuition fee of $250 which is due prior to the first rehearsal date. Financial assistance is available to families in need. To inquire about scholarships please contact Lori Holm via email.
