Steel Beam Theatre acting classes offer a nurturing environment for students to explore, be challenged and grow in performance skills! The creative process is a key focus to develop characters and strong performance skills as part of the Steel Beam mission to bring high-quality theatrical training to the community.

In accordance with local school districts, when schools are closed due to poor weather conditions, or holiday breaks, Steel Beam Classes are also "closed". Thank you.

CAMP BED BUGS AND BROOMSTICKS

Private Acting Lessons


Instructor - Lori Holm

Students receive 1 hour lesson based on their personal goals as an artist and skill level. Your first session includes a meeting with instructor to access your goals/plan for training path. Training may include, but is not limited to audition preparation, building a monologue portfolio, intro to acting, public speaking, character development, improv, scenework...

Sessions are scheduled by appointment

Fee - $40/hour

Age - youth and/or adult

Girl Scouts Acting Workshops


SBT is a proud official partner of the Girl Scout organization for nearly three years! Our after school acting workshops have been designed specifically for each "journey" from Daisy to Senior level!

All participants will experience a fast paced, fun and informative session anchored in teamwork and acting games. They will perform as a group on the Main Stage at Steel Beam Theatre!

Workshops Information:

  • - scheduled according to availability Monday through Thursday. Please call Lori Holm 630-887-7269
  • - 1 hour in length
  • - held at Steel Beam Theatre located at 111 W Main Street St Charles IL 60174 (parking garage is located on the South side of the theatre with an entrance on that same side through the Plaza)
  • - $10 per participant
  • - an $80 deposit is required upon scheduling to HOLD your spot this is NOT IN ADDITION to your final cost (example: if you have 10 students you will pay $80 deposit prior to your session and only owe $20 on the day of your session = $100/10 students)
  • - parents and advisors are welcome to watch and/or participate at no additional cost

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO "EWWW!!" - Comedic Improv

 

BOOOOOO-ti-ful slimy, and sneaking creatures of the night come to life in this comedic improv class! Fueled entirely on the students' imagination, stories based in grave yards, around campfires, and haunted houses are center stage for this acting class! Students will learn performance skills through acting games and teamwork. Family and friends are invited to a free Open House Performance at the end of the 6 week program!

HALLOWEEN MAKE UP IDEAS & TIPS

 

An intimate class to allow for detailed instruction, students learn stage makeup tips and tricks to create the good, the bad and the creepy in this hands on class! Each student will receive a personal make up kit, and instruction to create several Halloween looks. Students will make and keep a "look book' of their body of work from class!

THE LEGEND OF FLASH Mc WAGS! - A Pet Western

 

As the tumble-weeds blow through this tiny western town, the Legend of Flash McWags howls on the wind. No one seems to know what is true and what is a tall tail! Students will discover silly characters and music in this pet-filled story and add their ideas to make it come to life! Great class for new actors and those with experience, and the actors will learn performance skills through fun acting games! Family and friends are invited to a free Open House Performance at the end of the 6 week program!

DECEIVING DEATH!!

 

Shadow-play, actor driven movement and crafty plans propel this story forward. Based off an Indian folk tale, SAVITRI, our heroine makes a deal with Death to save her family Students will explore this supernatural land of Kings, power and magic through acting games, character creation and story telling skills. Family and friends are invited to a free Open House Performance at the end of the 6 week program!

THE MISFIT HEROES!! A Musical Mash Up

 

This music filled comedy of super powered heroes will get everyone giggling! Will the strange super powers of this crime fighting bunch be good enough to save the world?
