The Spell of Sleeping Beauty transports the audience to the magical kingdom of Never Nod, where Princess Briar Rose (Zandra Starks) is about to receive one very unwelcome and uninvited guest, an angry witch named Evilina (Sara Monteleone).
This classic Grimm’s Fairy Tale, adapted by Vera Morris, starts with an irate Evilina casting a spell that will have Briar Rose prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die on her 16th birthday. A counter-spell cast by good fairies alters the curse from death to sleep, and the entire kingdom must remain suspended in a state of repose until Briar Rose receives a kiss from her one true love, Prince Alexander (Sean Preins).
Many frightening perils await the Prince, including the Wall of Thorns and the Dark Knight, in this all-ages show that has it all: thrills, action, comedy and romance.
Directed by Emily Hanna of Chicago, The Spell of Sleeping Beauty cast includes: Courtney Bender of South Elgin; Riley Boyd, Jake Bridges, Maddie Keane, Morgan Kull, Sofie Peltier, Christopher Nimick, Anna Wright, and Julie Zima, all of Saint Charles; Chase Costello of Elburn; Taylor George of Bartlett; Isabelle Heuser and Mary Alice Roach of Wayne; Lindsay Holbrook and Alysiana Carter-Tang of Geneva; Laura Kaplan of Wheaton; Maggie Kohler of Elgin; Lindsay Langstaff of Aurora; Sara Monteleone and Zandra Starks of West Chicago; Brianna Picardi of Winfield; and Sean Preins of Lombard.
